Ladies, when you hit 30 or 35 you'll look back at these times when you insisted you were just as capable at 18 as an older, more experienced nanny and shake your heads. No one is saying young nannies don't work hard - I WAS one, I DID work hard - but there is nothing that compares to experience in the professional world, whether you're a nanny or a teacher or a doctor. Years of practice and refining of one's skills do make a difference in performance levels.

So again, please don't take these threads personally if you're a young nanny (we were all young once), but try to understand how a decade+ of experience in anything makes someone more efficient and more competent.

Age isn't the reason OP shouldn't hire the nanny. It's because she's already doing a crappy job. She's not keeping up on her chores and will be way busier with a baby thrown into the mix. OP is going to come home stressed and deserves a nanny who will make life easier on her, not harder.
