Subject: Should I ask for a raise?
I'm a MB in NYC (though not anywhere close to wealthy like these people!) and I'd be so upset if our beloved nanny left without at least asking for what she wanted in terms of compensation. They can always say no and then you'll have to make a decision, but don't just leave without trying to make it better, especially since you love the family.

Of course they didn't give you a bonus/raise at Christmas! You had JUST started working for them.
OP here- I trained for a month with their last nanny (of 3 years) and she told me not to expect anything. Also the chatty housekeepers say they are paid well, but have never received a bonus or raise. I do love this family, and if I want to stay with them I should learn to accept their verbal appreciation. If only I had a $ every time they said "Thank you"...
