Tell her that each non-emergency text you receive while you are off the clock will begin costing her $10 effective as of right now. Explain to her that the charge will be in effect whether you respond or not, and you will give her a bill each morning when you arrive at work so she can pay you for her texts before she leaves for work.

Or just block her after you leave work until 30 minutes before you are due to arrive the next day.

Why is this so difficult? Shut the phone off or turn it on mute when you go to bed!

I put a privacy feature on mine. "Do not disturb" mode from midnight until 6:30 AM. Half an hour after I get up. It won't ring or give me any notifications until 6:30. Then when you go to work, show her how many times she texted and about what. Tell her you will no longer be answering between whatever hours.

Turn your phone off at night.
if she asks why you didnt respond, tell her its off when youre asleep.
You look at it before you leave for work.

Another MB here who agrees that she's nuts. You can ignore it, but the better solution would be to let her know that you're not responding to her texts unless it is an emergency when you're off-duty. It doesn't sound like she's someone who will take the hint...

Quit. ASAP. Find a new job first if you have to financially, but get going on that if so; she isn't going to change.

Do you have email OP? Can you give her your address instead? Although if it is really true she is deliberately trying to wake you up then you should start job hunting since that is insanity.

Judging by the posts of most MBs , about 99% wouldn't find anything amiss by texting their nanny at all hours.

Ignoring her texts is a non confrontational way of dealing with texts, but the best way to deal with her is call her out. Explain to her you are fine with receiving texts during your working hours, but when your not being paid she should email you instead. You can give any reason, or be honest and explain that unless it's an emergency you would prefer to receive emails. Also explain that you may not have time to respond right away. If your pregnant she may freaking out and it's coming out in weird texts, if she's pregnant she might have crazy stress or hormones. It's something to think about if you can't confront her on this inappropriate behavior maybe it's time to move on. Bottom line that's ridiculous behavior!

I don't believe this post - what employer would think that's appropriate? What is she paying you? If this was real (and I know its not) you would need to find a new job. Anyone who behaved this way would have mental issues

This post seems fake to me but if its not I would put my phone on silent and point out to her she texted me at 2 am and that I was asleep if she asked if I got it

Wow that is pretty crazy and absolutely annoying! Try responding next time by adding that you would like to set aside a few minutes to talk the next time your there. Then explain to her that that constant texting, especially during the night, is getting to be an issue for you. Tell her that you need your sleep and relaxing time during your off duty hours so that you can be your best for DS when your working. I also like the suggestion from a PP about having her send you one email with all the "issues" and then you can respond in the morning or whenever.

I tld her to please not send more than 10 messages in 5 mins about something unless it was an emergency. She says she does this to wake me up in case i am asleep so that I can get her message and we can be "on the same page". At 5 months, I am exhausted and not sleeping enough to be on my own "page"
