Where is anyone getting the OP is not a great nanny? Can someone please give specific examples...aside from the one poster who (always) seems to give that response when she can't contribute anything real to the thread?? Just curious why she is being jumped on like this...

I agree with the other PP, you probably aren't a great nanny to begin with. If you want to be petty and file for unemployment just remember that you will also have to pay taxes on your income for the past 1.5 years which you probably weren't doing so good luck finding money to cover the taxes.
Whoever suggested reporting them or going to the IRS is just immature.

Do you think that filing for unemployment is fair if you aren't working on the books? How does that even work? I would imagine that you would also get in trouble for not paying taxes and it would be more of a hassle as opposed to just finding a new nanny position. I've never needed unemployment so I don't know how it works which I why I ask.
If you do file, you will be on the hook for taxes. But that doesn't mean she shouldn't file. And it's not about what's fair, it's about what's legal.
+1
Employers bear the burden of responsibility in this scenario, which is why it is always in their best interests to compensate their employees legally. There is nothing unfair about an unemployed person filing for unemployment.
