Did you mention how old the children are?

Op here... I meant to mention MB does not appear to have PPD- I am very familiar with signs and symptoms and she has not displayed even one. She just seems to be more interested in her tennis match and date with her friend at the coffee shop. Sigh. I am a little bitter... These kids deserve so much more... People consistently think I'm mom because the way the toddler interacts with me and the way I treat them. It's clear I'm toddlers preferable caregiver. I was hoping mb would spend more time with the kids when she announced her departure from work to be a sahm. DH always says they just had kids to carry on the name... Sorry I'm late on checking in.

You have to decide next time around or when your ready to leave this job to find a family who is more concerned with balancing work and quality time with their children. There are lots of families that do need a nanny and also are very close and connected with their children.

Was MB involved before new baby arrived? If so, could be PPD in which case the best thing you can do is just be supportive.

I hate the, "Then Quit" or "Do what they tell you to do, they pay you". Responses. People need to understand that nannying is more than just a regular job because you get emotionally invested in the children in your care.

This infuriates me as well (and is super not helpful), but I think that a lot of the women here don't see nannying as anything but a paycheck. Sad for their charges.

OP, God bless you for taking such great care of those children. They didn't chose to be here and they are very lucky to have you. It's not clear what is wrong with their mother/MB. Is she depressed, plain selfish, etc...? No one knows, but what we do know is they need a mom and you are that for them. I know it is awful, but years from now you will remember the charity you've shown them and that you've saved them from a life without a mom. Just remember that. Sometimes we are angels when we have no intention of being that. God works in mysterious ways.
