Of course they contradict each other, there is no "right" way to sleep train, just what works for a family and a child. Talk to your MB about which sleep philosophy she's comfortable with, be prepared to educate her on the differences if she hasn't looked into it herself, and then go back to that book or that system and stick with it for a week or two. If it isn't working then, re-evaluate the child's (and family's) needs.
