Thanks PP. We did send the e-mail, turned off the credit card, changed the alarm codes, and DH took the car so she could not (she has a key). We asked her to return the keys and credit card but assume she will not bother.

What agency do you recommend for temporary/fill in help? We have a couple of leads but I don't know if we will find the right person right away. My mom may fly out to help next week but she is still trying to clear her schedule. Ugh.

Ugh OP, I'm sorry to hear that. If I were you I'd send an email and phone call telling her not to come back. Get your locks changed this afternoon.

Then get some temporary help (I can recommend at least one agency that I'd trust for a few days or even couple of weeks of quick fill-in while you're looking for a replacement).

Well, it's rare when there is universal agreement on DCUM. I should have listened. She suddenly needed a week of for a relative's funeral (over Mem Day weekend). Swore she'd back today. Finally got a call from school when it was 3 hours past pick up time and the kids were still there. No call, no e-mail, nothing.

Agree with PPs - If you called your employer to say you'd be late and never showed up and didn't call again and there wasn't a MAJOR emergency...you'd be fired. Many employers would assume that was just your way of quitting!

All these emergencies are happening on Fridays? Yeah, your nanny is not only unreliable but also dishonest. I'd be looking for someone new.

MB here - I tend to approach things as a conversation first but this actually would be a fireable thing for me. She's obviously unreliable and possibly dishonest (all emergencies don't happen on Fridays). If I said I was coming into my job but would be late and never showed, I'm sure I would be out the door unless there were a real genuine emergency where I couldn't reach my boss for some reason. That's just unacceptable.

Seems to me the nanny should be paying the neighbor's nanny. I get the impression that the nanny is setting up the neighbor nanny helping out, not OP.

No, OP should not offer to pay that other nanny. If that nanny wants to bring it up, that'd be fine.

OP should pay the other nanny something extra and should not be paying her nanny given she's a no show. I'd ask the neighbor's nanny if she has any friends who need a job.
