The women who do actual mothering and are down in the trenches are told to suck it.

Pig? Wow.

This is a nice idea!

Some of you believe that being a mother is just a biological event, while others have more of a holistic opinion. Hence the co-parenting image.

A woman who adopts a child is a mother, 10:47. A nanny is not a mother. She is important to a child, to be sure, like a teacher, but a nanny is not a mother to her charge.

Why are you having such a tough time understanding this?

But the nanny still did not give birth to the child, therefore not being the mother. Mother's Day is for MOTHERS. I get my days on my nanniversary and nanny appreciation week. Just let your MB have this one.

What do you call the woman who adopted?

I am not a mother, so I don't get gifts for Mother's Day.

A sweet thought, but save it for nanny appreciation week in Sept. Mother's Day is for the mothers. Now if you're asking to do something thoughtful because your nanny is also a mother then I think that isn't odd and would be sweet/thoughtful to get her a mall gift card for her favorite restaurant or some other small thoughtful gift.

Until they have to let her go.
