I mean, should suggest. It's a gift from the heart.

My charges and I have been to visit my mother (lives near the beach) about 5 times now, and we have been to Williamsburg and Jamestown and Luray caverns. This summer we are going to Gettysburg and even on a LONG trip up to Niagara Falls to visit a former nanny family of mine. I am so excited to have all of "my" kids together at once. I love that they trust my judgement and my relationship with my charges enough to let me have these amazing adventures with them.

How do you work out the finances for the trips?

I make my usual weekly salary, and my employers pay for gas, hotel, meals, tickets to go on outings, etc. we discuss ahead of time what we plan to do and how much it will likely cost. If there is something that comes up beyond that budget (like a carnival in town on our last trip), I try to work within the budget or sometimes pay out of pocket if it's something that I really want to do (like takin my mom out to dinner with the kids). Usually, MB or DB will give me a little time off (like 1/2 day) when we get back so that I can relax and unpack without jugglings kids.

How did this even come up as an option? Dd you ask or did they bring it up. It seems like a great win-win scenario if you have established the Evelyn of trust that you obviously have.

My nanny does this with our DD, too. We pay all the expenses since she is graciously giving up her time and TLC. She is a wonderful person and we are lucky to have her in our lives.

My family loved the job I did with the kids so much that after they no longer needed me as a nanny they offered me a job at their business because they didn't want to lose me. They did this even though I had no previous experience in the field. I am so grateful because while I loved being a nanny, it can be so hard to get started in another field with out experience. Now I have coworkers and I'm paid more!

I am completely spoiled by my MB and DB. I get 9 weeks paid vacation time, 6 of the 9 are all expenses paid. Plus random just because thank you gifts all the time.

But the best thing they have done is chose me to become part of their family by way of nanny to their children.

My previous family wrote about me here on DCUM when I was leaving them in such glowing terms that I got 25 job offers. It wasn't just the job offers but the words they wrote; had me in tears. My first family from 12 years ago still include me at holidays, birthdays, etc. and make sure I get to see the kids as often as possible.
