Glad you found a solution. I was going to suggest a book that you all start reading and they can keep reading after you are gone.

Now that you are traveling I think it would be cool to give a book about the US or World so they can learn about different countries. Possibly including where you are going. Like if it was Hawaii you could do a special meal talking about Hawaiian culture.

but the pool sounds great, hopefully the weather cooperates!

Have a great last day with the kids and good luck with your travels and schooling!

I'm leaving because that I'm travelling through Europe for the summer and will be moving out of state afterwards for school. Its not forbidden, she just didnt want it to be gifts or food. Kids and and I agreed the pool would be a fun way to spend the last day. Thanks everyone

Could you go do something special ( Or new) before you leave. Say a month ahead? Or a couple weeks before? Would she be okay with that. Not for a special occasion. Just a fu day? Or a new adventure? Would she be okay with that? Take lots of picture and then on your last day "forget them" at the children's house?? Seems odd she wouldn't let you do specials things but good for you for respecting her wishes!

Why are you leaving? Just curious.
I also respect that you don't trash talk your MB when it sounds like it would be easy to, considering you are "forbidden" from doing anything remotely special on your last day with those kids. I know my own feelings would be hurt, but I think it's really gracious of you to come on here and not write bad things about her, especially in this day and age where everyone is so quick to turn on each other and only see things selfishly!

This mom is definitely crazy- but crazy doesnt stop someone from still managing to be a good boss.

I've had one or two crazies myself, but the relationship was still positive.

Good luck with your next transition!

She does want me to spend time with her children. Honestly, she's not selfish and I don't think I portrayed it accurately. She's trying to instill intrinsic values in her kids and doesn't believe in fancy gifts or occasions. It's just that we differ on the idea of rewards or gifts. It's her parenting method and I respect it.
