Over 400 lurkers on this thread and none of them have anything to say anything about the conference. Their silence speaks volumes. Looks like the INA is folding and no one wants to say it. OP?

Wow. A lot of bitter vitriol here, likely from 1-2 individuals.

I went this year for the first time and enjoyed it and learned a lot. I never work through agencies and didn't see a lot of sucking up going on.

The board is not solely made up of nanny agencies/businesses but some of the ones who are that I know are very strong nanny advocates. I view their presence as a plus. No organization is perfect, but to bitterly bash an entire organization and all their members is ignorant at best. One of the co-presidents is a nanny, for instance.

A lot of the workshops were helpful, but the networking with other nannies and ncs's was also wonderful.

To the PP- I believe the nanny run organization you were discussing that is defunct is NANC. While the organization is defunct, the yearly conference Nannypalooza lives on, still run by nannies. It's also an awesome conference and very worthwhile to attend. This year it is in Ohioin early November.

I personally don't know enough about the INA to form an opinion in that regard.

I would never join INA again. Until you start getting agency owners to really become advocates for higher nanny pay and benefits (which most of them are only looking out for themselves), they can put on these conferences and put out the newsletters, but they really are not looking out for the nanny.

I do believe ALL nannies do need to become more educated and should continually be taking classes, reading, anything to educate themselves. I don't believe they need to join INA, but in DC you have ADCAN and other areas have other chapters that offer monthly get togethers and learning experiences. And there is the Nanny Day coming up that ALL nannies should be going to.

So what's going on with the ina?

I heard they had their own conference every year.

Hopefully, the issues discussed on this thread will get addressed by the controlling nanny agencies sitting on the INA board. Unfortunately, the few token nannies who sit on the board are puppets who don't ever voice any disagreement, or they get squashed down, and put back in their place. If agencies want to argue that INA is a "nanny" organization, then they need to step down from their controlling board positions, and allow nannies to have leadership of the International NANNY Association, INA.

I would if it would set my resume apart from other nannies.
