Subject: Disgusted by a local daycare. Feeling worn out and demoralized.
I switch back and forth between beIng a preschool teacher and a nanny (for the past 20 years). Pros: Teachers are more respected by parents and receive legal pay and benefits, so much less to negotiate than nanny positions. Cons: teachers bust their backs and there's always another poopy diaper, and it's a lot grosser ( lice, sick kids, sick co-workers, & lots of cleaning to meet liscensing rules)!

$900 a month is cheap for childcare.
Full time care at 40 hours a week for four weeks (minimum) is 160 hours. At $900 a month that's $5.60/hr MAXIMUM. No one here is suggesting child care is cheap, having kids is expensive, but that is a cheap daycare compared to others.
