4x in 5mos is a bit much, but you don't say how much notice they got, how much you called in the other 15 mos, etc. I agree w/ the poster who said sick days are there for a reason. The family should have had backpack care lined up if they can't handle their child one day a month.

You do need to let this go though, unfortunately. I know where you're coming from- I've had this situation once myself. But really, no good is likely to come of this. At most I would send them an email and just say you were thinking of their family and hoped everyone is well. Still could be seen as "weird" or too much by some but is pretty innocuous and leaves ball in their court on if or how to respond vs. a request for actually getting together made by phone.

She worked for these people for almost 2 years. That's a lot of time, and I'm shocked how they let you go. I would try to move on, especially because they seem like assholes. Sorry you miss the kid, I know the feeling.

Aren't you so fortunate to be given the gift of a strong immune system and to not contract the more virulent strains of influenza or norwalk virus.

Work ethic is calculated in more ways than sick days. Perhaps you won't be so smug when you are so sick that you can't stand straight or get out of bed.

Why don't you write her a note telling her how privileged you were to witness the milestones of child's life and she didn't.
