This stance is so old. We call people the titles they give themselves. If a male nanny refers to himself as a manny, we call him that. It's that simple.
This may be wrong, but the way I see it is a nurse is a person that helps a doctor, yes they are often female but nurse does not signify gender. But, nanny to me means a woman that takes care of your kids, a replacement for mom while she works, so I like the word manny because I think nanny IS a feminine title, where nurse and teacher and coach are not.
