I have told my nanny to do everything she legally can to get out of serving. If she can't, we'll work something out to keep her income stable, probably using a combination of vacation, sick leave and future sitting time.
Under no circumstances should you encourage your nanny to perform her civic duty as a citizen!
Encourage her to suck it up and live on a fraction of her income for possibly weeks? Seriously?
