I have told my nanny to do everything she legally can to get out of serving. If she can't, we'll work something out to keep her income stable, probably using a combination of vacation, sick leave and future sitting time.
Under no circumstances should you encourage your nanny to perform her civic duty as a citizen!
Encourage her to suck it up and live on a fraction of her income for possibly weeks? Seriously?

Care, sitter city, e nanny source etc are options
Maybe it won't be that long?? You could also justention at preschool and church etc you were looking to fill in hours..another option is to do overnight newborn care. Pays great and maybe you could do it over the weekend or once a week??

Op here, spoke to my DB last night about my jury duty. They are paying for four weeks. Which is awesome. I still need suggestions about websites to find additional jobs.

You TOLD her? You as her employer are not allowed to coerce her to get out of serving.
I didn't "coerce" her. She was upset that she is having to serve and use her PTO. I have backup and can manage without her no problem.

Ohh shut up. She said "Anything she could LEGALLY do". And I assume the nanny gave the impression that she didn't WANT to serve, but had to serve.
