Hi OP. I'm a nanny in Houston and tbh, I don't think $11/hr for two kids is underpaid. Yes, having started with the family at $10/hr, and an additional kid, $1/hr raise seems a bit low (I would have asked for $2-$2.5/hr).

I think your qualifications are great and you would do well if you so choose to leave and find higher paying employment.

You are legally entitled to OT pay over 40 hours. Are you being paid under the table?

Yes I'm a live out nanny, no overtime pay. Whatever hours I work I get paid same 11 an hr for, whether its 40 or more. Last week I did 50 hrs so I was paid 550.

Given your limited FT nanny experience, it seems reasonable. Also, the wages of other nannies may include raises that you are not eligible for yet.

Having been at my current position for 3.5 years, I earn about $4/hr more than when I started.

Are you paid overtime? Do you live out?

I would talk to my employers, like the other PPs have said.

I make $20/hr to care for 2 elementary-aged children on the Main Line in suburban Philadelphia. This rate could be very different from Texas or DC for that matter - but it's pretty standard up here. Definitely ask for a second child raise ASAP.

I started babysitting at 12 and gradually moved up with more and more families and responsibilities during high school and college. Post college while I was working a full time job already, I was a part time nanny. This is my first FULL time nanny job, which is why I needed clarification with raises/pay/etc. If offered a raise every 3 months is unusual, I believe that. I might have misunderstood and in which they meant IN 3 months (last sept) getting a raise. Hopefully since the second child has been born, I will receive raise soon. I love this family and have been working 40-50 hours per week the last couple months, which I feel is very stable. I love both babies very much, I just didn't know what the average pay rate is for two kids. Is 11 per hour normal? Nannies, what is your pay and credentials and parents what do you pay your nanny with my similar experience and credentials?

Hard to say, as rates can vary a lot area to area. That's a very low rate for the DC area, but I don't know what your part of Texas is like. What does the care.com calculator say for your zipcode? I find that that can be a good resource to find a bare minimum pay rate.

I would ask for a second child raise ASAP (this is something that should be obvious to them). And then discuss guaranteed hours when your one year anniversary comes up.
