I am part of a 2 baby nanny share in S. Arlington. Kids are between 9 and 14 months. Nanny gets $9 an hour per kid. We pay under the table though.

You are unlikely to find a college kid for a full time share.....

OP never said PT or FT. Come back when you can read.

I've never heard of anyone looking for a share for PT hours. OP may not have specified FT or PT but honestly ask yourself which is the more likely assumption? Come back when you're no longer a bitch.

And don't talk about your friend's cousin's neighbor's roommate's sister who lives in Timbuktu and makes $30/hr. OP is asking for the cost of a nanny share in South Arlington.

OP, to answer your question: it could vary depending on if you are looking for full time or part time hours, and if there are any other children. In South Arlington, the typical cost of a share runs $17-20 per hour total. This is split between the two families.

I started at about $16 or $17/hr for 1 child. The second child was already on the way. I am paid on the books, drive, have some "house manager" responsibilities, an AA degree, classroom experience and 10 years of FT nanny experience.

What impacts the hourly rate is the experience level, education and ability to be paid on the books (green card, etc) of the nanny. Also, the market. People were hiring nannies for less than $15/hr in Arlington when there were a lot of quality nannies looking for work. If you're offering PT hours, expect to pay a little more per hour.

It is always a bad idea to negotiate net. Her tax liability is not your responsibility.

Anonymous wrote:I have a friend in N. Arlington in an infant nanny share -- each family pays $11 an hour, giving the Nanny $22 an hour. I'm not sure I buy into the argument that there's a huge difference in the Nanny wages between N. and S. Arlington, but if you buy into this, adjust the rate accordingly.

There are plenty of high income families in South Arlington, FYI.
