How about reading books about child development or behavior? Maybe the same books the parents read on the subjects. But do try to rest too because we nannies are more valuable to our charges when we are well rested and energetic! Before the next baby came into the family I would bring my laptop to connect with other nannies and also research topics. Even if baby is not quite ready for some activities it's good to know more about them in your area and for the upcoming seasons.

I agree -- enjoy it while it lasts! I did ask my second nanny to empty the dishwasher and fold laundry. Once DS1 was down to one nap and DS2 came along, those little chores made a big difference. Right now, MB has plenty of time while LO sleeps on the weekend. That may change, too.
