Have you read ANY of the replies on here? There have been multiple people stating they get sicker when they have the shot vs when they don't. How is mitigating ones risk of getting sick irresponsible? Some people need the flu shot because they have crappy-ass immune systems and can't fight stuff off. Great, get the shot. Some people are healthier without the shot. Great, then don't get it, but to paint every single human being with the same broad stroke is irresponsible. Some people need glasses, some don't. Some people need orthotic shoes. Some don't. Some people need size 5 jeans, some people need size 18. Every body is different and people need to be given the freedom to make the choices that best fit their own unique body.Anonymous wrote:OP here: Wait..where did I say that I was anti-vaccination or anti-science or "afraid" of a flu shot? Oh yeah..I don't think that I did. I have been a nanny for SEVEN YEARS and every family that I have worked for has been FINE with me not getting a flu shot. Do not tell me that I have "no business working with children". It is MY body and if I don't believe in getting the flu shot, then that is my choice. That does not mean that I shouldn't work with kids. Please stop talking out of your ass. Thanks.
OP you are ignorant and self centered. You are watching twins, one of which has a heart condition. Your BS over your body is not more important than the health of those kids and the advice of their doctor who is clearly more educated than you. You have no business watching these kids.

It's the flu, not malaria, and the DCs are old enough to get the shot themselves if the parents are so worried.
Anonymous wrote:Geez, if you are anti-vaccination, anti- science, afraid of a flu shot or whatever, you just really have no business working in teaching or childcare. You absolutely SHOULD NOT be taking care of infants or any child with compromised immunity, or cardio or respiratory conditions. This is just irresponsible and the fact that you don't realize this means that you aren't even knowledgeable enough to be watching these kids in the first place.
There are many other industries where you only interact with adult populations. You need to get a job in a different field.
Amen! I have gotten the flu shot 2-3 times in my life (I'm 39) and those winters I was the sickest I ever get. The years I don't get the vaccine, I might get a cold or two at most. I definitely vaccinate for whooping cough and the like...it's the flu shot I object to.Anonymous wrote:its shameful to think you would force someone to put something in their body that they dont want

This. The twins are old enough (assuming they are not immunosuppressed) to get their own.
