So we have au pairs and I'd say this is one of my top reasons were done having a live-in after this one leaves. The trouble is - having a live in means having quiet bedroom-only sex pretty much always. It sucks. We do our best to be quiet, honestly. But when you live in with anyone there are going to be things you're going to know about your housemates and hear your housemates do that you just need to set aside a bit. Because it's their home.

Now I don't know if they're trying to be quiet in your scenario, but if you really can't put up with hearing any sex at all, then maybe living with other people isn't for you? Just a thought, obviously your situation may be more extreme than would be expected, I don't know.

Leave a note for them to take it quietly.

I would say something. They may not even realize that you can hear them and I agree that kids shouldn't be subjected to hearing things like that while they are trying to sleep. Also they are the ones who wanted a live in I assume and they should act accordingly. I mean would they be that loud if one of their parents was in town visiting?

A similar scenarios happened when I was a live-in. My room was directly above MB's in an old character home. Sound travelled. Things had been going downhill for a while and the MB/DB having sex was just the tip of the iceberg. I ended up explaining to MB in person how uncomfortable I was with everything (not just the sex, there was other issues going on), and all she asked me was "shall I charge you for making you a key?" Needless to say, I moved out that night.
