I agree!Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:I think it's a great idea that could be a great resource if the nannies from outside of the md/dc/va forums quit thinking about it as though they are being "kicked out" and instead realized that having more nanny specific forums and regional specific forums is actually quite helpful! You have an opportunity to help shape a whole new community- personally I like that idea! Change sucks, many of us from the "OLD" DCUM disliked or hated the change to the new software and having lost years of posts that are in the archived forums. Once people quit complaining and embraced it it turned into the DCUM that some (or many) of you started with. Change is good and keeps the world moving forward.
Besides, with all the negativity on the DC forum... Frankly, this one is a fresh start. Why start it off with negativity and complaining? It actually takes work to run these forums- handling all the technical issues/etc. it's not a small undertaking that Jeff & Maria would launch simply to try and get out of area nannies off the DC forum.

Let's actually work to keep this forum professional and helpful. It would be so nice to have a place to exchange ideas, get advice, etc with having other posters scream TROLL every 5 seconds or complain about "entitled nannies" who have questions about fair wages. I'm actually really excited about this.
Thanks Jeff!
Anonymous wrote:Jeff, is the au pair forum for au pairs, the way the other ones are for nannies, or is it for host parents who have questions about hosting? Thanks.
Anonymous wrote:The number of sub forums seems a bit much. I am not sure why you need regional and random sub forums (nannies in the news as a sub forum?). The beauty of the old forum is that you could pop on for two minutes and do a quick scan.
Anonymous wrote:So, I'm confused, is this meant to include employers of nannies as well?
Seems not, so it is more appropriate now to post nanny questions in General Parenting?
Anonymous wrote:I'm not a big fan of this set up either. It was just so easy to quickly check the old forum and see what was recently posted. I am not in DC but I am pretty sure I will go to all of the region sections and partcipate anyway.

That would be great. One note of caution, however. Please pay attention to copyright issues. Most material on other websites will be covered by copyright and we don't want to violate that. But, if you have information that you are free to publish, it would be very useful here.
Good point Jeff. It should be fine to just post links, right?
