It's a life lesson OP.
When your parents told you, you would be judged on outward appearance, they weren't lying were they?
When you choose having to have colorful hair over developing a professional career, then it shows to me as a potential employer poor judgement and immaturity. I might hire you as a occasional sitter for an older child but I wouldn't take you seriously.
Longevity with an former employer may not sway me. Lots of families hang on to nannies they don't like bc it's more disruptive and tiring for them to hire a new one than to just tolerate the one they have.

This is not fair. Your appearance has absolutely nothing to do with your skills as a nanny. That's the problem with these parents. They judge you based on looks, not your professional background as they should.

Oh wow, that sounds awful, and then for her to write something nasty about you on the internet, I'm so glad my employers are open to dyed hair and piercings, it makes me so mad when people act like that, I'm so sorry this happened to you, it's really not fair.
