Nice language, you sound really professional and exactly the type to 'take a backseat' having a break at home while your charges (ie: responsibility) leave the house. Instead of using that language to express your feelings, why don't you explain to me why the mom would have the nanny come in at all that day, if she was okay having her family care for the kids unsupervised? If she was okay with her family being in charge she would have told the nanny to stay home. Backseat = Background, not 'gone'.

Yep I'd love to hear MB's version. Personally I'd rather MB get upset about me calling her at the office for confirmation the family could take the kids out, than just let them leave. The kids were the nanny's responsibility. If the mom was okay with the parents being full charge she would have told the nanny to stay home, but no she asked her to work even when there were many adults in the house. MB wanted nanny in the background in case there were issues, background means close by not leaving the kids to go out with the family alone. Nanny you messed up and need to take some responsibility instead of this poor me routine.

You can’t change people’s mindset and, unfortunately, you have the parent bosses who blame their nannies for their own abdication of responsibility. This would surely come up again so OP is better off leaving before something much worse comes up.

SIX ADULTS went with the twins for a walk. SIX. And you think OP should have called her MB at work to ask if she should insist she go with them?!

Just because there are more adults doesn't mean the kids are being supervised. Remember pool stories where everyone thought the other adults are keeping an eye on the kids?


Had this happen at a pool and the mother told the nanny to take a backseat and then the grandmother told her to stay home and do her chores and six adults took the kids to the pool and one drowned - it would not be the nanny's fault either.
