I would expect you to work if its part time. Many people don't have off.

This is a toss up, on one hand I can see how since you are currently obligated for Tuesday-Thursday that your employers would just naturally assume that you would be working tomorrow regardless however I can also see that since it IS a federal holiday how you could assume that you would have the day off automatically.

For example: say Christmas Day fell on a Wed you would automatically assume that you wouldn’t have to work that day but Veteran’s Day isn’t really a major holiday imo.

+1

We’ve done it both ways depending on needs of the parents. This should be spelled out somewhere.

I am a Nanny for a family of two kids and have been for the past two years.

I usually have had Veteran’s Day off and I just assumed that I would this year as well so I made plans w/my family.
However my boss told me that while she & her family have it off, they have some important errands that they need to get to so will need me to work.

I work 30 hrs/wk, 3 days/wk and the past two years I wasn’t working on Tuesdays, I was W-F, 10 hrs each day.
My schedule changed to T-Th a few mos ago.

I know it is my fault for not asking ahead of time, I just assumed since my bosses were off I would be too.
