I would do it for $25 an hour, but it has to be near my home and easy kids. Even then, I'd try promise month to month, so be ready for back up.

We pay $70 for 2.5 hours in moco. One kid, includes driving, only once a week.

Hi OP, this is a tall order for reasons others have said-- you need someone with a very particular situation to make this work, and you shouldn't be surprised if you lose them quickly if their schedule changes or they find a job with more hours. I'm not trying to be a downer-- just being honest based on my own experience with this last year.

In NE DC, we paid $30/hour for one kid pick-up, 3-6pm. We went through three different nannies during the school year. One was a student but her schedule changed, and the two others were nannies in between jobs (who both ultimately found full-time jobs after being with us for a couple of months).

So you will need to pay a good amount to get and keep someone, but it can be done. I would ask around a lot in the neighborhood; people who can work these types of positions are snapped up very quickly.

around $35 so she takes home around 90. Even with that rate, it is almost impossible to find someone in this area due to long commute times and just not worth our time to come for 3 hrs. Signed: a nanny who would never take this job. Sorry.

This is ridiculously high.

Older kids can feed themselves and do not need frequent diaper changes or potty training.

This rate may be more reasonable if cooking or laundry duties are required or the prospective Nanny is required to help w/homework.

It's because of the hours. She's asking someone to work 3 hours a day in a schedule where they also can't work a regular 9-5 because of the 3pm start time. $35 x 3 is $105. If they're employing like they should be, sitter takes home about $87 per day x five days is $438 per week. Deduct a tank of gas and it's about $385 per week or $77 a day divided by 3 hours per day is $25.60 per hour and no ability to have a 9-5 job.
