Nanny here and I always put guaranteed hrs in my contract. Make sure you always have a contract. If I am available I need to be paid because my bills don’t stop. It’s only fair

Actually the OP IS working full-time as 7-3/M-F is actually forty hours per week.

Yes, if a family cancels a working day the day before, they should still pay you for your availability.
Because you may have given up another gig to work the day you now have off.
Or your NF should pay you at the bare minimum half a days pay.

It’s all depends on you! 7-3 M to F would be 32 hours weekly and that’s a part time position. You can also request a Full time guarantee hours for 40h weeekly or just tell them you prefer to finish at 4pm instead but be paid for the 40h weekly. You just need to advocate for yourself.

I am a Nanny + Babysitter and I have a question re: pay.

So for example, I am given a schedule for the next week.
Say 7-3 M-F.

However on Thu., the family tells me that I will not be needed on Fri. due to Grandparents visiting.
Or?
Parent got unexpected time off.
Etc.

Should the Nanny still be paid for the Fri. in question?
What about if the Nanny were part-time?
Say 7-11??
