Yes, a friend once told me that she contacted two separate agencies as a new mom while simultaneously placing an ad herself on care and on here. There were a lot of duplicates in the resumes shared, and those same nannies had replied to her own ad as well, showing they were actively looking.

She did not end up hiring any of those nannies, mainly not to cause a disagreement with the agencies on who made the connection first.

Because it’s 2024 and most parents use neighborhood list servs and parent group chats or even online sites like this one to find a nanny instead of paying 20% for the agency to run an ad! A new parent or out of towner might use an agency but otherwise it’s rare.

Most parents who run ads with agencies end up hiring on their own. The ad doesn’t mean the agency made a placement.

Best nannies come from referral and not from an agency.

Why don’t more nannies work through a hiring service like WHN? They are always on here raving about the rates advertised there.
