So sorry that you did not receive anything for Christmas this yr OP.

Perhaps they are not happy w/some aspect of your work this past yr.
Or like another person suggested - maybe they did not get a bonus this yr at their own job?

Could it be possible that they intend on giving you more money this month?
Though this likely isn’t the case.

Unless they are an excellent family in other ways & they have given you extensive benefits, etc., I would consider finding a new family.

A bonus should not be expected. Even if you are doing a great job, maybe you are well compensated enough. Or maybe your bonus was contingent on their receiving a bonus from their employers and that didn't happen this year.

They may have a different relationship with the guard gate person or there may be a protocol within the community that you are not privy to (how you know about this gift is another question), or the gift may have been a token. Did you receive a Christmas gift (maybe something like a gift card or something they know you like).

Bottom line: if you otherwise like the job, this is NOT something to quit over. But it you're so offended that you're willing to change jobs over it, leave. Maybe the grass will be greener, maybe it won't.

If the fam is paying you top pay and are generous in different ways(unlimited pto, sickness) and are nice&flexible with you, I’d not be offended. A bonus is always greatly appreciated it but not all families think alike and some are not as thoughtful, unfortunately.

Sounds like they're not please with your work. Are the child happy?

You said you wanted a card. You asked if they sent out cards. They said no. They gave a gift to someone and not to you. If you like working with them just ignore it and stay. If you are working because you want a bonus, then get a new job.

Nanny here. I’d look for another job. A bonus is standard but mandatory in this field. But honestly not receiving anything would have me quit. When you work in someone’s home it’s more of an intimate setting and we go above and beyond for these families. If you didn’t they wouldn’t of kept you around so long

Hi, I have worked with my current family for a year now. This Christmas I did not receive anything from the family. I'm not asking for money but just a card would have been nice. Last year I received a card and some money as a bonus. I did ask I'd they gave out Christmas cards this year and they said no. The guardgate person in their neighborhood received a gift from the family. I know they appreciate me cause they have said so.What do I do? Maybe just ask if I've done something that they aren't happy with? Advice please.
