Agree w/ one week as standard, when the relationship is strong, nanny is appreciated and high performing, etc... And I always gave that as cash - so not taxed.

I would never consider a 10-15% of annual salary as bonus. I gave that when our nanny of many years finally left us, but never as an annual.

And absolutely do not babysit for free. You are a professional - get paid for your time. Negotiate salary increases etc... and hope for a bonus but don't expect/assume/negotiate the bonus. That is not mandatory or a given.

Same as me. I worked with them 3 years. They paid me around $21 plus taxes per hour.

I got my bonus $500 every year!
When I read your post. I thought about me. Do sad!

A week is typically the norm.

I’ve nannied for almost 30 years and for the first time ever I received not a thing-not even a card.

OP while I think it is awesome that you go above + beyond for your current Nanny family - NEVER ever babysit for free.

Because by doing so, this can set an unfair precedent that they will likely use to their advantage later on.

Sorry you got less of a bonus than usual.
As awkward as it will be, you will need to discuss this directly prior to hire (in the future.)

I have always received a week or two weeks paid as bonus. This is the first year that I haven't gotten any$$ just a box of chocolates two weeks before Christmas(been with this family for 6 months since I relocated to VA)This is a high profile fam that pays me above any other position I had in the past. Was I disappointed? of course, but then I realized I get unlimited PTO&sick time and are super flexible with me.
Please do yourself a favor and do not work for free!!!

Bonuses are at the discretion of employer, not an obligation.

Stop babysitting for free. We pay our nanny cash to babysit.

The first 2 months was Christmas and they gave me one week of my pay. So, for this Christmas I was expecting at least 10% of my salary. I’m very disappointed! I really go above and beyond. I cook and bake for the whole family and sometimes I do babysat fort them at night without a pay for 2 or 3 hours a week. I organized the children birthdays ( decorations, homemade cake, waffles etc) I even go for the birthday celebration during the weekend. I don’t know if I’m taking it personally but I feel that I deserve it. I have asked other Nannies and some told me they got 10% or 15% for high profile families and other said 1 or 2 weeks of bonus and others said $500. I’m from France and usually in the professional field people get the 13th month which is 1 month of bonus. What do you all think and do I need to approach the family?
Thank you

Time to move on. They do not appreciate you. In your new job keep your work to your contact. You created your own job creep.

One weeks pay is standard OP. Never heard of this % being a thing.
Two weeks pay is nice but not the norm.
Don’t babysit for free.
