No commuting expenses = a big perk.
That's not a perk provided by the employer; it's a coincidence. It would be a perk if the employer was providing housing that was 15 mins away.

Yeah, but that is just by pure chance, does not mean she should agree to below market rate. $30 for share is way below dmv market rate, like way way low.

Hi OP, I agree w/the others on here that you should definitely ask for a $2/Hr raise.
Also I would also ask for ALL Federal holidays paid from now on.
You can also add in an extra sick day or two.

My rate is $35 with just 1 child(newborn); 15 days PTO and health insurance stipend of $400, 40 hours guaranteed, all holidays paid but Juneteenth and Veterans Day. I’d suggest you ask for the day after thanksgiving off and paid plus 7 day of sickness and hourly rate of $34.

You could be off paid between Christmas and New Year if you took it as a vacation week right?
You want your 2 weeks plus a 3rd week?
If you are asking for an extra week off I wouldn’t ask for a raise. Work if out and see which one benefits you more over the course of a year.

I am maki g $36 in a nanny share with 2 8nfant boys, and getting a bump of $4 per hr from Jan. I do have long commute, about 40 min. I would ask for a raise of at least $2 per hr per family citing market rates in the area.
