Subject: Keeping in touch after leaving the job
I was a nanny for my last family for almost 7 yrs and am very attached to the youngest who was 5 mos when i started and not is almost 9.
The parents understand the bond we have and absolutely support me seeing her and being part of her life.
I guess it depends on what kind of a person you are and what kind of relationship you keep with the person who raises your kids when you are not around. How much you value your nannies and make them a part of your family.
its been 2 yrs since i stopped working but i see my baby atleast once a week, and get to spend time with her whenever possible. I think i am blessed to have worked with wonderful families, and would hate to work with someone who thinks a nanny is just someone who works for them and are gone when they leave.

How long was she your nanny? How old are your children?

Our nanny that we had for three years and is amazing. We parted on good terms almost a year ago and still keep in touch. The kids have seen her about five times so my husband and I can do date nights . Once a week is a bit much plus she has her own life.

We let go of our full time nanny about a month ago and hired someone else part time. We gave her more than a month’s notice and she found a great job soon, so she left a week or 2 before the date of termination. She was a decent nanny, no major issues and pleasant personality but she always did strike me as somewhat unreliable and an oversharer of her personal life to my kids, which was unnecessary.
She still wants to keep in touch and meet with us once a week which I don’t want to do. I think the kids miss her a little but they’re busy with their other stuff and rarely talk about her or seeing her. I was ok with the idea of maintaining a relationship prior to her leaving but now I’m not, for some reason. She also will sometimes text them on the iPad and I don’t know why but I’m uncomfortable with it. Thoughts on this? Do you guys keep in touch with your previous nannies or after employment is done, that’s it?
