It doesn't say anything about an 8 hour flight anywhere in the article. Where did you get that information? Where did you read "no prospects of entirely free days"? Where does it say
anywhere that the nanny would hate the food?
The only thing that makes any sense in your post is that the family should have discussed the trip in more detail with the nanny first.
