Unreal! The fact that someone pays $22/hour is fundamentally wrong.

This has to be a troll, but thanks for the laughs.

Thanks everyone for your responses.
I didn’t realize that we are not paying our nanny the standard rate.
We will indeed increase the pay to $25.00 an hour immediately and increase again in January.

I really, really hope this is a troll. She's at $22hr after 3 YEARS with your family?? What in the world did you start her at? She's currently about $8hr underpaid and when all the parents at school drop off and pick up see how great she is- the poaching will be intense.

$22hr was average pay for one child in 2015.

True your son will be in school for 3 hours, but nanny will still need to drive/walk to and from school each day. It won't be a true three hours with zero responsibility. Most likely, she'll be the one they call if your son needs to be picked up early, right? Teacher work days? School holidays?

Will your son be in preschool 5 days per week? Have you talked with your nanny about tasks she could do during some of that time? Many nannies are open to light errands or chores (if the pay is right).

That being said - it's difficult to say whether or not you should give a raise. We don't know your location or what you're paying now. We don't know what benefits you're offering.

With little to no information: yes, give a raise. Everything has gone up in price lately.

Yes. Don't be cheap. Giving a COL increase will build good will. Do you want a nanny who you claim is wonderful to leave? No? Then give a raise. Your kid will get sick, school will be closed, etc. You'll need your nanny.

We have a wonderful nanny that has been with the family for 3 years. However our son is starting school in September from 9-noon. Our nanny’s 3 year contract meeting is next week.
Do we give nanny a COLA increase since she will be paid her regular pay even though our son is in school 3 hours everyday.
Any suggestions on how to deal with this situation.
