I've used GTM and HATED my experience. I encountered every issue imaginable and am still trying to get them correct issues months later after switching to HomePay. I love HomePay and have zero issues so far.

I love Poppins Payroll. I compared a few companies and they were the cheapest. They include a free schedule H if you're still using them when the year ends. I let my nanny go mid-year and paid extra to get the schedule H the next year. I decided to re-hire my nanny a few months later, and Poppins said they'd refund me for the schedule H, which was great.

Poppins let me pay our nanny weekly or bi-weekly. My nanny preferred weekly, of course, so we did that.

I would give your nanny the same holiday schedule your employer gives you, unless she wants something different. We give our nanny the 11 federal holidays because we're federal employees. However, if she wanted, for example, the day after Thanksgiving as a holiday (Feds do not get it off and I always work that day), I would give her that in exchange for working, say, Columbus Day so that my husband and I could go do a non-kid friendly activity for that day.

Our nanny gets 5 sick days and 10 vacation days a year. She accrues a certain number of hours every pay period just like I do in my job. Our contract said that if she needed to use sick/vacation time she hadn't yet accrued, it would be unpaid. However, I ended up advancing it to her (just as my employer would do for me, at their discretion).

The contract should specify what her duties are, e.g. in addition to child care, doing the baby's laundry and tidying up toys. And be sure to have her list her emergency contacts. Montgomery County has a model contract that we based ours on.

I’m always salary, but I have defined hours and am paid for those each week, so we don’t have to wait to input the following week’s paystub. My employer prepays a month at a time now

We use poppins payroll and are happy with it.

We did a flat 20 days- sick or vacation. I don’t care how she uses them.
We put in extra Covid days- maybe 5? Because we don’t want her coming to work if she tests positive.

You’ll want to make sure you have defined hours, any house rules or preferences, and job expectations.

Nannies are hourly employees only who get 1.5x overtime rate for all hours worked over 40 in a week.

GTM for tax and payroll services.

2 weeks vacation, 5 sick days, paid holidays, guaranteed hours, and health insurance stipend.

For contract, make sure to include- duties, schedule, start date, household rules, PTO, how many hours per day PTO will pay out at, does it roll over or pay out at the end the of year, termination, severance, reviews and raises, in climate weather days, guaranteed hours, driving, car usage (nanny's or family's, mileage reimbursement, insurance, safety, car seats, etc), privacy/NDA, social media, meals, work expenses (errands, kids outings), overnights, travel, taxes and payroll, pay, benefits, emergency contacts, medical authorization, can nanny give medication at her discretion, communication, workers comp insurance, cameras.

Also, make sure you offer guaranteed hours. Meaning you pay her 52 weeks a year for all the hours she’s hired for.

I’ve been paid through SurePayroll and I’ve also had employers who did all the withholdings themselves and gave me a W-2 in January. As far as sick days and vacation you’ll have to ask the nanny during the interview what she expects. I get 5 sick/personal days and two weeks paid vacation. Nannie’s can’t be salaried. I get paid weekly via direct deposit.
