I wouldn't hire an old nanny, but don't consider 40's old. Maybe it has nothing to do with your age.

I think older nannies are great! They bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table, which can be super helpful when it comes to caring for kids. Plus, they've been around the block a few times so they're usually chill and have seen it all!

I agree 100%. You want solid experience.

Families, they don’t prefer them from what I’ve seen.

Hopefully she’ll have the wisdom to nip that problem behavior. Sleep deprivation is hard on children.

You've never gone through that awkward stage of a kid giving up their nap, have you? It's a brutal process. Regardless, I'm not going to risk it on "hopefully."

Sounds like a child who still needs a nap.

Yeah, I'm not going to lie, I would struggle with this. I would love it for older kids - like elementary age? Summer nanny, or someone to get them off the bus and to activities, even driving. Help with dinner. That would be great.

But for babies and toddlers? That require lifting, running, quick reflexes, and are very physically taxing? And where you're hoping to have a nanny likely for multiple years? I mean, my mom is a very healthy and vibrant 72, plays tons of tennis, works full time, and she's starting to struggle getting my toddler in and out of his crib, and after a morning with the kids, she's exhausted.

I suggest she targets a family with their first infant. First time moms love a motherly figure added to their home. It's good for mom and baby!

I am helping an older lady find a nanny position. She is a great nanny and has wonderful experience. She is 70 years old, and has great references. Since covid, she has been having trouble finding a family. She is still very energetic and will takes babies/kids out to the park/malls/play dates/ etc. I wonder if age has anything to do with finding a family fast

what are your thoughts ?
