Our current nanny takes care of our two kids right now, for $26 an hour. We'll move back to a share later this year, and at that point, I'd anticipate paying a total of $28 or $30 an hour (so $14 or $15 a family).
So yeah, if your sister is paying $40 for a share (that's absurdly high, btw), then the equivalent for your own nanny for two kids is prob $35 or $36.
But again, that's super high. The going rate is somewhere in the $25-$30 range for your own nanny in DC.

For example, my friend is in a nanny share with her 2 year old and a neighbor’s 3 year old. They pay a total of $40/hour. Is that what I would expect to pay if hiring a nanny for my two kids (3 and 1)?
