I just think that I’m overpaying her. My concern is that Nannies don’t want to work 12 hours daily, go on vacation for several months and live in. It took me 6 months to find a live nanny who is willing to work 60 hours a week, who don’t drink or party each night. She is descend with appropriate clothing in the house. I don’t want to hire 2 Nannies for my child which I believe would be disturbing to him but I also have a social life. We haven’t agree for her to work overnight and she could go out if she likes. We sometimes travel for a week or two without her and she is compensated. I think it’s fair to ask her to work one or two weekend here and there without compensation. She just refused and ask us to find a weekend nanny. Money is not an issue but it’s unfair to us. She argued that nannies are like school. Even though the child is not going the school needs to be paid but in this case, I think it’s totally different.

If your kids are in bed and you asked her if she minded if you ran to the store real quick and we’re gone 20 mins I think this would be one thing. But what you are asking is totally different. She can’t go out and is responsible for your kids while you are out for the evening, you need to pay her or hire someone else.

Do you still pay your live in nanny when you go out for dinner? My nanny asked me to pay her but she is home. We argued that I do still need to pay her or to hire a babysitter at night. If I need to pay how much do you think? She is paid $30/h and we provide foods for her and rent free. We went for a live in nanny because she is home and we can go out as we pleased at night. What do you think?
