the "fun" AP might wear on you after a while and you might wish you had picked a more chill person. You're selecting someone who will watch your kids and be a respectful housemate, not your new bestie.
You have to live with an aupair too. It's selecting a roomate as well. Some of our most experienced aupairs had traits that made them nearly impossible to live with. This includes the Brazilian au pair who constantly compared our family with the host families of other aupairs on sical media. It was endless entitlement and judgement.
Go with the German aupair, especially if your family is more reserved or rule following in general. Culturally, we found it to be a better match.
