So they work three months and accrues no PTO? Seems to me that you are the one taking advantage. How do you feel about leaving your children with someone that you cheat from the get go?

We did the same thing. We've had the same nanny for over seven years so they accrue more vacation time, but it's sitll something that gets accrued rather than given all at the start of the year.

Anonymous wrote:You probably should have discussed before hiring, but the major federal holidays are the norm. If it's a day you don't get off, I would not give it to the nanny either. Be sure to have PTO nailed down too, and I strongly recommend you have her accrue sick time and vacation time. I've seen nannies take all the PTO up front and leave a new employer high and dry.
