Will the patents even install and uninstall the car seats? Of course not! Nanny, get out of there!

You can just get a new job and go. You don't have to wait for the contract. Since they didn't adhere to the contract, the contract is now broken, and therefore null and void.

Oh my gosh, no you should not buy a car just bc he wants you to! Save your money and get an apartment and get away from these horrible people!

That's crazy. It's one thing if they needed a nanny that has a car and make that an up front requirement during their search in which they only interviewed candidates willing to use their own car. It's an entirely other beast to make that a subsequent requirement and ask your nanny to buy a car for work.

This doesn’t sound difficult. You are overthinking it. Just say what PP said. You don’t want or need a car. You can’t afford a car. If they need you to drive, they must provide the car.

Underpaying you should be enough to make you find another position. Are you a troll?

Everyone on this forum is so rude. I don’t need to disclose all my personal information to get the answer I’m searching for & I always get complaints that my posts are too long - I’m currently searching for a new job. You don’t know anything about my situation or circumstances. I would like to know how to deal with this in the mean time, thank you very much.

Say no? Lord help the kids you work with.

It is unprofessional for them to think you’ll get a car for thqt purpose wether or not you make enough money. I’ve always supplied a car for my nanny. They must know they’re taking advantage of you and could be trying to see how far they can take it.

What is this response?

I think we should feel bad for those nannies. A lot of them had different expectations going in. It definitely sounds like OP agreed to something different than what’s going on. OP also stated that she’s leaving, so your aggression is unnecessary. These forums are for people who have questions or problems, people like you confuse me.

Thank you, this is great. I need to learn to be short with them.

Live in Nanny here. My nanny family is getting a divorce & wants to keep me along. The father has asked me more than once if I can get a car so I can drive the baby between their houses.

I have qualms with this family as they frequently underpay me & take advantage of me & I have plans to leave when my contract is over. I am a live in nanny but I am not provided with any of the board or benefits I agreed to before working here. I am not interested in getting a car because I know the family wouldn’t even give me gas money let alone follow industry standards for using your nanny’s personal car - but I found it quite insulting that he even asked that in the first place. Never had a nanny family not provide a car for me to use while on the clock & I don’t think my past families would ever dream of asking me to buy something so their family could use it.

The dad has been asking me frequently lately to get a car or if I’ve saved for one so I can ‘give him the money to buy a car’ & I have to hold my tongue because I want to respond & tell him that he doesn’t even pay me enough for me to think about a car. They want me to buy the car & fully take care of it & they asked for 50 dollars a month FROM ME for parking (this part was also insulting).

I’d definitely like some advice - do you feel that this is a rude request? How would you professionally decline this request?
