Previous poster seems accurate, the going rate for a nanny with a relevant Bachelor's degree and 10 years of experience is $30, same nanny with no experience around $25. You can calculate based on that what you're looking for and what salary would be appropriate. A non educated nanny with little experience would be around $20-$22.

I'd consider my nanny career a fairly average trajectory. First job I had a bachelors degree in psychology and babysitting experience. Now I have 10 years nanny experience as well.

2012 $19/hr
2015 $22/hr
2019 $26/hr
2022 $30/hr

Op, not to shock you but the going rate is solidly $25-30hr and very competitive with most nannies receiving multiple job offers.

You get what you pay for. You can find someone with not much experience for that cost. Go with daycare. A nanny is a luxury not everyone can afford and that’s ok .

Sorry to tell you. But no one is accepting $18 per hour. Mainly with a newborn. This is lots of work and responsibility. If your husband wants to pay that low rate; better stick in a day care.

This is such a loaded question.
You can find someone at nearly any rate. But trust & believe that your $18 an hour nanny will ditch your family when they find someone who will pay more.

Market rate is $25 for 1 child. The aim is to keep your child well cared for and the nanny happy. You normally get what you paid for.

What’s the going rate for a nanny in DC? My husband seems to think he can find a quality person for $18/hour. I think it’s closer to $24-$25. I found someone who seems great for our 3 month old and my husband wants to pass because he’s convinced he can find quality for $18/hr.
