It’s far easier to have my preschool change home with his toddler sister and me than arranging her life around pick up and drop off for preschoolers five hour preschool. Plus packing his lunch and snacks.

Ridiculous. You can't split her pay like this. Try it and you will never find a nanny. I wonder if you can really afford a nanny when you want to only pay her for the hours toddler is home. Who is going to watch toddler when school is closed for any reason?

We’ve been paying $32 hourly on the books. We have a newborn and 4YO that goes to school PT. When our nanny was watching just my DS her rate was $30.

I echo the above: there is no difference in having one in half-day preschool and one at home all day as compared to two at home.

We pay our nanny $32 an hour at this point for two kids: one toddler and one in five hour preschool.

There is no discount for a child in preschool a few hours, OP. I think that’s the biggest misconception on this board. The nanny is still responsible for his/her laundry, meal prep and clean up. If she’s doing pick up and/or drop off, it’s actually more of a hassle than having two at home. And providing coverage for the countless sick days and holidays the preschooler will be home.

For a good nanny, you’ll be looking at between $25 and $30 in this market.

This is still a two child position unless the nanny will never prep food for toddler, do their laundry, pick up their toys, care for them on sick days, no school days, summer breaks, covid quarantines, etc.

The going rate for a career nanny is $26-30hr with some outliers in either direction.

Assuming you want the Nanny to watch the toddler if not in preschool you pay the full rate for both. Sick, days, snow days, random
Closures, summer, spring break etc. The hourly rate depends on where you live, does she need to drive, experience, CPR, etc
