Was this placed through an agency? If so, your agency rep should be handling this for you

Your employers have zero recourse if you quit before your contract ends.

A judge cannot force you to work for the duration of your contract nor can one make you financially compensate them for walking out.

This job sounds like an emotional, physical + mental nightmare!

Yes you don’t have to give any notice.

Wow! Contract says nanny has to give a month’s notice, while parents need to give the nanny only two weeks notice??

So much taking advantage of uninformed nannies out there. It’s outrageous!

You have every right to quit without notice. Just send an email or text today. Or call. Do not go back. Use the weekend to find another job and don’t use this family as a reference. Don’t mention them or what happened to potential employers. Like the PP said, pretend they and the job never existed.

Just quit. If you have a space to eat, I don't get the issue. You are an employee, not family or friends.

Nannies and families

I’m working for a high profile family. The pay is ok but the parents and children are horrible. It’s the first time that I work for a family that would not allow the employees to eat in the kitchen area. The Nannies have their own space to sit and eat. That’s fine with me! Sometimes, they scare the kids behave or you will go and eat with the Nannies etc… anyway, the kids hit, bits, swore, scratch, kick and so on… Mentally I’m so exhausted. Twice I haven’t loose my eyes because they thrown objects on my face. Now, I want to quit without any notice. I have a contract that said to give one month notice and the parents two weeks notice. At first, I thought it was fine because I would stay with them for years but the second weeks, it started to get so bad. It has been three months now since I’m working. Legally what are the consequences? Someone told me that the Nannie’s are always at Will contract. Please Help!
