Yes, they did but only with the foreigners employers. All the Americans don’t call them Mr or Mrs. I’m just asking myself why such difference. I have worked for lot of people and never ask me to call them Mr or Mrs which I don’t mind. The only thing that bother me is why the other employees don’t do the same and our bosses are ok with that.

Did your employers specifically ask you to call them Mr and Mrs rather than their first names?
I’m an American nanny and have never called my employers anything but their first names.

Americans are less formal. I haven’t called anyone Mr or Mrs since I became an adult including employers.

Hello all,
I wanted to ask you all my concern. I’m working with a high profile as a Personal Assistant. But, it’s a really wealthy family. That said, I’m a Spanish speaker. For some reasons, the family has 3 other PA for (mom, dad, children), 4 kids with 4 Nannies, 2 full time housekeepers, 3 drivers and so on… We are 4 foreigners who came from different countries. All of the foreigners have to call them “Mr. and Mrs.X”, which is perfectly fine with me. But my concern is, why all the people who are from the U.S call them by their first names. I’m on my 50s and it’s really doesn’t bother me if that pleased them. I think it’s unfair to discriminate your employees. Some of the Nannies are very young and they call them by their first names with no formal manners. I’m just curious to have your opinions. I started the job last October.
