+1

You need to designate her a "break" to eat

Give her a 20-30 minute break during the day and say, hey, Im making xxx, would you like some. I would find it weird to eat when you were there.

I am a nanny of 13 years and I usually just bring my coffee, water and a banana and eat when I get home. I don’t see the big deal or maybe she doesn’t have time .

I think it's something new most of nannies are facing now. Since working as a nanny and the environment has totally changed due to parents working from home now. It's the new thing. I just think she must be shy or very uncomfortable eating her lunch as I guess she used to do before the pandemic with their previous positions. Nannies felt more comfortable having her lunch when they found the right time when nobody was all around the house, Mainly in the kitchen. She must feel just shy when you or your husband come in and out of your office and maybe find her eating, it doesn't matter if baby is awake or napping. I think it's just the thing that she needs a little more time to get warm and learning to work with somebody working from home. It's understandable; maybe that she feel that she doesn't have her 20 min of private lunch and bring whatever she wish to bring for lunch; and eat it comfortable. She maybe just feel that she has been watched all day; even though it's not true. Just give her time to adjust to her new position.

Offer to stock a few things she likes. Tell her to please make a list of 4-5 things she likes that you will add to this week's grocery run. Breakfast bars, fruit, lunch meat, cucumbers.... Whatever she wants

Don't overthink it. I eat my breakfast at home and actually do not even bring lunch with me nor do I eat at their house either. It is just the way I am. Don't see it has been something normal or not.

I ate on the days they went into the office

Meal is included with your job contact. Why not just sit down and take a break? I don’t understand

Not necessarily. Some people only eat two big meals a day with a snack in between. Don’t make her feel self-conscious by bringing it up.

Plus food allergies and different dietary needs.

Give her time to get more comfortable. Especially if she’s foreign born.

We love our new Nanny. I work from home, my office is next to the baby room and I try my best not disturb Nanny and my baby. I take my lunch break same time as my baby. I never seen Nanny eat from our house. She does bring her coffee, two bottles of water and a single breakfast bar every day. I offered a drink the first day and Nanny declined. She's really good with my daughter and overall, we are happy with her. Is this normal in most household?
