Second, quit. I mean quit yesterday. Your employer is not mentally fit.

How long have you worked for these people, OP?

+1. Also, why did you need to stay without being paid?

4 years. I can’t just leave until I am relived . The parent just left. I wasn’t going to leave the kid alone even though he is a teenager. My employer was so upset, if I would have left I probably would be fired.

I just hate making a mistake. Yes I get it’s not a huge deal but he was clearly very angry with me. I felt terrible. Like wow I made so many mistakes in an hrs time.

So I still don’t understand why you weren’t paid for it.

How many years have you been working for these people?

4 years. My guess is a punishment? I typically don’t get paid for working late. But I rarely work late .

MB here. Parent owes you four hours pay and an apology. I’d never treat my nanny this way.

If this is real, you absolutely have to quit. Your employer is seriously mentally ill.

I’d be looking for a new job. You should be paid for all hrs worked. Your employer can’t get mad and expect you to work 4hrs for free .

He needed new shoes. I was told to take him after school to get new shoes. I’ve done this probably 10 other times with no issues . Afterwards I got him dinner at McDonald’s. The parent was upset because he didn’t get Chick-fil-A. Issue was McDonald’s is lesser quality for the same price. Never had an issue before with him eating McDonald’s and the teen prefers McDonald’s.

Parent was very upset with the choices the teen made. I’m the adult who was in charge so it all falls on me. The parent came home screamed at us then stormed out of house very upset and didn’t come back for 4 hours. I worked an extra 4 hours with no pay because of this. I apologized about the food saying I’m sorry I didn’t know he wasn’t allowed McDonald’s anymore. I’ve taken him so many times I didn’t know the rules had changed.

Depends on the mistake. Did you apologize?

I’d rather not say exactly what happened but the equivalent of buying a teenager a pair of shoes he wanted but the parent doesn’t like it. Teenage really likes them, looked appropriate to me, has similar ones. I offered to take back but didn’t exactly apologize. Parent stormed off mad at both teen and myself.
