Not always true. I thought I’d hate having my employers at home but after nearly two years of covid office closures, it’s been great. It totally depends on the personalities of the employers.

All of the following will impact pay:
-How many hours per day/per week do you need?
-Do you need someone able to drive? (down the road, as your child gets older, this may be more important to you).
-What do you plan to offer in terms of PTO? (norm is 2 weeks of paid vacation, one week of your choosing, one week of theirs, at least 5 sick/personal days)
-Will you offer paid federal holidays off?
Most experienced nannies won't need a full month of overlap, but if it makes you less anxious as a first time mom, a good nanny will understand.

-The going hourly rate for career nannies is $20-30hr with most candidates within the $22-26hr range.
-Nannies must be paid 1.5x overtime for all hours worked above 40 hours in one week
-You can anticipate paying approx 10% of the nanny's gross annual income in domestic employer taxes
-A workers compensation policy is required in DC and MD (though also highly recommend getting one if you live elsewhere) and that costs about $700-800 per year.
-If you will be using a tax and payroll service, that is about $600-700 per year depending on which you use.
-If nanny uses her personal vehicle for work, they should be reimbursed at the current federal mileage reimbursement rate.

I am a single mom-to-be, due in mid-February. I am looking for a full time nanny for when I return to work in May. I would like her to start a month before I return (March or April), so that I can work with her and we are all on the same page. I am looking for a fully vaccinated nanny (including booster).
I am willing to negotiate pay (don't even know what the right price is).
Does anyone know of any available nannies?
