You can solve that problem by having that family only picture taken for your friends/family, and make some casual pictures at home with the AP that you'll give the AP and that she can send her own family if she wishes. And itll be a nice memory for you and your children as well

I've been part of some family pics and not, we realize we're not really part of the family per se but honestly it can be upsetting if a pic is being taken and you stand on the side and no one asks you to join ...

I think you can meet halfway as I suggested and everybody will be happy

How many families did you au pair for?

Not in the same countries though.

I’ve only seen it once, and it’s from a family who makes the Au pair do everything. Literally the mom is never around, always doing girls weekends. Kids are nightmares.

I would include her in some of the pictures on the back, but not on the front. I got a card last year from college friends with a random Asian girl in their picture. I was honestly very confused. Found out later it was an exchange student. I understand why they put her in the photo, but at least if you do mention who the person is in the text box on the back.

No, our au pair is not in our family photo. We do Christmas photos which she is in. We hang them up and give her a copy.

We make a collage on the back of our card with 15 or so pictures from the year and include a picture or two of her with the kids there.

We have never done it, but we love our ap, she’s been with us 2 years and I think I will put one photo of her with the kids on ours. We usually do a couple of pictures so nbd. She’s our 6th and likely last ap.

I'd say no, the risk outweighs the reward. I know one family who does it and its very nice, but I wouldnt start it bc then one year when you dont love the AP you will be annoyed to have her on there!

We usually send out Christmas cards with a family photo on it. The thought never crossed my mind to include au pairs in our previous family photo/card.

We currently have an amazing au pair. The best so far. She's been with us for 2 months. DH wants to include her in our photo/card. I don't know how some of our recipients will perceive it. Also, we probably won't do it every year, depending on the au pair.

Do you include yours if you do a family photo card? Why or why not?
