The children I nanny are 1.5 and 3 and they are the sweetest, most chill kids ever. We have a wonderful rapport and the mother is absolutely awesome and we've sort of developed a friendship since her husband is out of the country. There are never any issues. But lately the baby has not been able to sleep through her nap. The mom texted me on my day off laughing about how the baby is sleeping peacefully, (the mom and I joked about how maybe it was me that was making her not be able to calm down enough to sleep haha). But now I'm wondering...is it actually me??
Maybe the baby is still adjusting to having me there?
You should not take it personally. Kids tend to behave differently when the parents are around. They will always test the boundaries and see what you will allow. I have worked in both circumstances with parents at home and at work. Always ensure that it is a team work speaking the same language. Meaning reinforcing what is being done with the care giver and vice versa so they understand that everyone does the same thing.
