$1 an hour raise is fine. Guaranteeing the overtime is only a perk if the nanny wants to work overtime. Provided she does, guaranteed hours is a perk to you to keep her available. Her increase in salary is because she’s working more - it’s not a gift from you. I don’t mean to sound snarky but you’re presenting it like it’s something you’re doing solely for her.
Our nanny has been with us for almost a year, and we plan to offer her a $1/hr raise.
We also are thinking about guaranteeing some overtime, probably 5 hrs/paycheck. With the raise plus the overtime together, her gross pay will increase by about 15%. (Not including her health insurance, which we also cover)
Two questions, and here I'm mostly for input from other nannies--is a $1/hr annual raise generally standard? Is offering guaranteed some OT a plus? I don't want to present this combination of raise + overtime like it's a positive thing for her if OT is generally seen as a burden rather than a good thing!
